Students from WMST 401, Spring 2006 Women's Studies, an interdisciplinary and global field of inquiry, explores gender in societies past and present. Women's Studies examines women's lives, including their thoughts, experiences, achievements, and positions in society, and ways in which women's lives are shaped by race, class, and culture. Scholarship in Women's Studies is found in virtually every branch of academics, including the humanities, social sciences, sciences, education, and the arts. At SIUC, the Women's Studies Program offers a Minor and a Graduate Certificate Program. Students may also take Women's Studies courses in the Core Curriculum, in their majors, or as electives. Graduate Students - Must currently be enrolled in a Graduate School Program at SIUC, or holding a Bachelor's degree and admitted as an Unclassified Graduate. Student MUST confer with the WMST Director before submitting an application to the Graduate School for participation in the Certificate Program. Admission to the Certificate Program must be obtained prior to completing nine (9) hours of coursework, and the Certificate must be completed within three years of beginning the program.
